A Day with Sunny the Parakeet

1.
Sunny the parakeet fluttered his green and yellow wings as the morning sunlight filled the room. “Chirp, chirp!” he sang. Parakeets are social birds, and they often greet the day with sounds to communicate with their flock.

2.
“Good morning, Sunny,” his owner said softly. Sunny tilted his head and chirped back. Parakeets are small parrots that enjoy interaction and can become lonely without attention.

3.
The cage door opened, and Sunny hopped from perch to perch. “Time to stretch your wings,” his owner said. In the wild, parakeets fly long distances in grasslands and forests, so exercise is very important for them.

4.
At breakfast, a bowl of seeds, vegetables, and fruit was placed inside the cage. “Eat up,” his owner said. Parakeets need a balanced diet, because eating only seeds can be unhealthy.

5.
Sunny splashed happily in his water dish. “You love bath time, don’t you?” his owner laughed. Parakeets bathe often to keep their feathers clean and healthy.

6.
Later, Sunny listened carefully as words were repeated nearby. “Hello, Sunny,” his owner said slowly. “H-hello,” Sunny squeaked. Parakeets are intelligent and can learn to mimic sounds and simple words.

7.
Sunny chewed on a wooden toy with his strong beak. “That’s good for you,” his owner said. A parakeet’s beak never stops growing, so chewing helps keep it the right size.

8.
As the afternoon passed, Sunny rested on one foot with his feathers fluffed. “You must feel safe,” his owner whispered. Standing on one foot is a sign that a parakeet is comfortable and relaxed.

9.
When evening came, the room grew quiet. “You know, you can live ten years or more with good care,” his owner said kindly. Sunny chirped softly, knowing he was part of a loving flock.

10.
“Good night, Sunny,” his owner said, turning off the light. Sunny tucked his head under his wing and fell asleep, dreaming of open skies, friendly flocks, and another happy day.
